Dass ich mich auf meinen 16. Filmfestival-Aufenthalt im September in San Sebastián freue, schrieb ich ja schon neulich. Heute kam die Pressemeldung raus, dass der Eröffnungsfilm des Festivals Chicogrande des mexikanischen Regisseurs Felipe Cazals sein wird. Eine Art Mischung aus Western und Historienfilm aus der Zeit des mexikanischen Revolutionshelden Pancho Villas mit dem großartigen mexikanischen Schauspieler Damián Alcázar in der Hauptrolle.
Chicogrande, by Felipe Cazals, one of Mexican cinema’s biggest names in directors, is a historical film with touches of frontier western, adventure movie and socio-political criticism. Chicogrande kicks off with a true occurrence: Pancho Villa’s invasion of Columbus, in New Mexico, and the subsequent punishment expedition launched by US troops in an attempt to put an end to the rebel leader. Headlining the cast is Damián Alcázar, one of the most popular actors in his country also recognised internationally.
Am 17.9.2010 werde ich mit großen Augen im Eröffnungsfilm sitzen und freu mich schon drauf. Wie auf das ganze Festival, in dem es auch einen deutschen Film mit Brundo Ganz und Senta Berger in der Hauptrolle zu sehen geben wird: «Satte Farben vor Schwarz» von der jungen deutschen Regisseurin Sophie Heldman:
Satte Farben vor Schwarz / Colours in the Dark is a love story, the story of Anita and Fred who have been married for 50 years. The autumn of their lives has long begun, but they continue to live their love – self-determined and not always symbiotic. When Fred becomes terminally ill he hides his illness from his family, apart from his wife, who knows about it. Freedom or denial? A story about the last weeks in the live of a loving couple which concludes with the question about everlasting love in an extraordinary step. Directorial debut. Contender for the Kutxa-New Directors Award.
